Prince Edward Island is one of the top 10 islands of the entire world with beaches everywhere and world class golf. Many activities see below such as the Confederate Bicycle Trail enables you to bike ride from tip to tip from east to west (or vice-versa).
Information on Confederation Bridge:
Tolls are collected upon leaving. PEI Bridge in Borden-Carlton. Shuttle service for pedestrians & cyclists is available. Crossing takes approximately 10 minutes. Open 24 hours a day. Call toll free: 1-888-437-6565 Visit website: www.confederationbridge.com
13 kilometres engineering feat, the Confederation Bridge is quick, convenient way to arrive in style. Toll is collected only when leaving/departing the Island.
Northumberland Ferries:
Tolls collected on leaving PEI. Departs Wood Island, PEI and Caribou, Nova Scotia.
Operates May to mid-December. Crossing takes about 75 minutes. Ten sailings daily from each terminal starting at 6:30 a.m. For more information & schedules call toll free 1-888-249-SAIL or visit www.nfl-bay.com Note: Ferry information and schedules subject to change. Note: The ferry does not operate from the end of December until early May.
Northumberland Ferries depart form Caribou, Nova Scotia and Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island (Canada) on a schedule of about every hour and a half and offering a pleasant experience. The 75 (1 hour and 15 minute) trip/ride may be spent enjoying a chat, lounging, and taking a light snack on the deck and soaking up the sunshine & sea salt air. There is even some traditional "music on deck". This is often considered to be a vacation highlight. Wood Islands is the gateway community to scenic and lively eastern Prince Edward Island.
By Air:
Air Canada is the regional affiliate and offers up to six (6) daily flights from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Air Canada has daily non-stop/direct service from Toronto and low-cost Air Canada Carrier Tango flies directly from Toronto on a seasonal basis. Air Canada Jazz provides daily service form Montreal during the summer season. There are also West Jet flights available across Canada. Some direct flights available and other flights with stop overs in Halifax, NS depending upon which airport you depart from. The Charlottetown Airport in Charlottetown is located on Brackley Point Road, Route 15 off Highway 2. The airport is located only 20 minutes from Charlottetown the largest City and Capital. Note: Tango flights with Air Canada leaving/department early mornings and late evenings are more affordable.
By Rail:
Both VIA Rail and Amtrak (via Montreal) offer services which connect to Moncton, New Brunswick with connecting bus service to many locations on Prince Edward Island.
